I only gave it one star because I couldn't give it zero. We ordered chicken and broccoli and a general tso's chicken. Pretty simple orders and standard anywhere well we got the order home and opened them up... The tso's was burnt smelling and the chicken with broccoli looked and smelled like they just boiled both together and tossed in the box no seasoning or sauce (very pale looking). So poor that I threw in the trash and went to YUMS near Publix and got the same order wow what a difference.... Hey sometimes lessons cost you money!!!

This used to be a great Chinese restaurant. Over the past year or so, it has really gone down hill. It is very inconsistent as far as the food goes. Sometimes it is really good and sometimes, not very flavorful at all. I don't know if they are cutting corners or have a new cook. I try it every now and then, just hoping it will be back to the old way, but am usually disappointed.

We planned on leaving early that day, but it was already past noon when we finally left Jacksonville, Florida, enroute back to our home State of California. Since we skipped morning breakfast, after driving along I-10 barely 60 miles only, we were feeling so hungry already and promptly exited on Highway-441 towards Lake City. Being so famished, we weren't exactly in a position to be picky, so just about a few miles down the road, we saw the sign for Fu King Chinese Restaurant, which somehow looked palatable enough for me and company. Well, I've been to too many Chinese Restaurants before, yet truly I got to say with utmost confidence that they didn't just served another Chinese food, but distinctively it was really Fu King good. The alternative would have been driving another 100-miles toward Tallahassee, however, truly there was absolutely no regrets for this unscheduled stop-over in Lake City. If ever you'll be driving along I-10 westward from Jacksonville and feeling hungry, then I highly recommend a stop-over in Lake City for a meal-break at Fu King Restaurant and get what you want.

I didn't go here with high expectations and my experience did not disagree. The service was quite nice: very friendly and quick. The decor could best be described as "where old Formica goes to die" which I think is charming in a retro sort of way. Its like stepping back to 1968 without the inherent danger of time-travel. The food arrived quickly... almost too quickly which usually means pre-prepared food and Chef Mike working in the kitchen. My dining companion found a cold spot in the otherwise steaming plate of chicken & broccoli which increased our suspicions of microwaved food. The lunch portions were generous and the taste was OK but everything seemed a little store bought (veggies cut too evenly, spring rolls too uniform and interiors mushy). So...I would go back again for the atmosphere and cheap eats but would leave my expectations of haute cuisine at home.

I'm giving the sign 5 stars and the food 2 stars. If you're in the mood for some Fu King Chinese and you're in Fu King Lake City, Fl, at least take a picture of this place and then go get Mexican. Fu King A.

Always amazing. Don't let the fact that it is a dingy hole in the wall place deter you. I drive from gainesville regularly for fu king.

Loved the Fu King restaurant. Very cheap good Fu King Cantonese. Not a lot to choose from in the Fu King vicinity, so this Fu King Chinese restaurant is excellent. I should have gotten me a Fu King t-shirt . Great name for a restaurant, that deserves an extra star, but basically Fu King good food and Fu King good prices.

While attending a retreat in Lake City this past weekend and weighing my options between one bad chain, another bad chain, McDonalds, IHOP, a lousy catered dinner and gnawing my own shoe, I came across the very positive review for Fu King. I heart Chinese food, and a silly name only earns you bonus points with me. Yahoo! reviews has a mediocre review and a fairly negative review. I read both, took them with a grain of salt, and went a-roaming. We arrived hungry and a bit worried. The place looks like a greasy spoon, and although the hostess and solitary server were very kind, it still took well over ten minutes to get anything other than drinks. The menu is about the same as any other Chinese restaurant, so we quickly decided on honey garlic chicken and West Lake Duck, which is greasy, heavily-breaded pieces of overcooked meat placed atop a plate full of vegetables drowned with brown sauce. It was as unappetizing as it sounds. We did enjoy the chicken dish, which (surprise!) actually seemed to have both garlic and lemon zest in the sauce, a step up from the average takeout in Gainesville. Even so, I wouldn't return. There's no reason to waste time on stuff like this, even if it IS locally owned and operated. 1.75 stars.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
